Your Bristol UCU Newsflash, 16th October 2018

Don’t Delay, Vote Today

Today is the last day to return your UCU pay and equality ballot paper by post. Any delay and it won’t reach Electoral Reform Service HQ by the deadline – ballot closes this Friday, 19th October.

Let’s get this vote over the line. Show your support and take a stand against casualisation, pay inequality and excessive workload.

UCU needs your vote. At Bristol and UK-wide we need at least a 50% turnout in this ballot. A strong union, supporting all its members’ interests, is a union that demonstrates it has the workplace muscle to get things done for its members.

To all those members who have voted, thank you. Could you perhaps do one more thing? Know a colleague who hasn’t voted? Don’t delay, ask them to vote today.

Remember the Great University Strike, in which UCU members successfully thwarted efforts to introduce massively determinantal changes to our pensions-to-be and ensured the continuation of our defined benefit scheme? UCU members need a similar show of strength if we are to thwart and reverse job precarity, unmanageable workloads and gender pay inequality.
