Bristol UCU Newsflash, 24th June 2020

1) Statement – Bristol UCU and Black Lives Matter

Bristol UCU speaks out in solidarity with #blacklivesmatter protests, the University of Bristol BAME Staff Network, and all those fighting to remove the pervasive structures of racism–legal, social, economic, cultural and other.

On 25 May, George Floyd was brutally murdered. At its Online Branch Meeting on 17 June, Bristol UCU members formally called for action by the University to end structural racism and racist incidents.

2) Fixed-term Contracts & the University of Bristol’s Response to the Coronavirus Pandemic

Thanks to everyone who attended the kick-off meeting of the Bristol Anti-Precarity Network on Monday. Members of the network have written a collective response to the VC’s letter about FTCs and Coronavirus [link].
