1) UCU Elections

Reminder: it’s election time in UCU. There are elections for General Secretary, for National Executive Committee members and other national officers. Ballot closes 1st March.

As things stand, there are currently no plans for local hustings, for the General Secretary position for example.

2) NSS Boycott – Latest

Bristol UCU Officers are currently discussing with the University their recent response to the NSS boycott and our Bristol UCU position. Updates to follow.

3) Meet UCU For Lunch, Tuesday 28 February, 12.30-13.30, 7G1, 7 Priory Rd

Members and non-members are all welcome at this lunch-time event.

4) UCU Annual Meeting for Staff on Casual Contracts, Friday 24 February, 10:00-16:30

On a fixed-term contract? Hourly-paid teacher? Working part-time?

UCU’s Annual Meeting for Staff on Casualised Contracts will be held on Friday 24 February 2017 at UCU Headquarters in Carlow Street, London

The meeting reports back on UCU’s work in relation to staff on fixed-term, hourly paid and agency contracts. There will also be speakers, workshops and plenty of opportunity to network with colleagues.

5) Open Letter on Racism at the University of Bristol – Deadline TODAY

Colleagues in the Black Arts and Humanities Cluster have drafted an open letter following the recent reports of racial abuse suffered by Bristol students.

The letter outlines concrete measures that can be taken in order to actively create a climate where racism is opposed.
