1. Happy International Migrants Day – December 18th
This time of year being so busy, we decided to celebrate in January! Come and beat the January blues with this lovely gathering to celebrate “home” wherever this is and whatever it looks like.
We’ll begin with a short reading by Michael Malay (thank you so much for saying yes!) from his beautiful book Late Light. Afterward, we’ll open the floor for a discussion that everyone is welcome to join—whether you’d like to contribute or simply listen in.
This event is open to all members, whether or not you identify as a migrant.
Date: 19th January 2026
Time: noon – 1pm
Venue: TBC based on numbers, the event will be hybrid (please let us know in the form below how you wish to attend)

2. Stop the Cuts to Medical Leave for Funded PhD Students
UKRI and UoB are cutting paid medical leave for their part time funded PhD students by up to 50%. PGRs at Bristol are pushing back and have launched a petition to demand the changes be reversed. Please find more details about the cuts here.
